Unforgettable Moment in My Life

A moment in my life that I will never forget was during my junior year of high school when my hockey team won the league tournament. My high school hockey team was a combined team composed of three different high schools. We were called Kalamazoo United, and we were considered the worst team in the league for years. Our league had 5 other teams that played in the same rink which included all the schools in the area which made the atmosphere very competitive and exciting. My freshman and sophomore year of high school we were last place in the league, and only won a total of 3 games in that period. The next year we came into the season with a fire in our eyes and a new attitude. Our team had a good amount of skill, we were just never able to play as a team, and close out games. My junior season we finished the year 10-0 in league play, and finished 23-2 for the entire season. It was a shock for every team in the league because we have been bad for so long. The best moment of the season though was in the league playoffs championship game. The atmosphere at the game was like something i’ve never seen before at a high school hockey game. It was so crazy for us to have a game so packed because most of the time there was just a select few people from school who would come watch. My nerves were so high for this game due to the insane amount of people, but I knew I had to keep my composure. As the game went on the nerves went away, but the shock of all of the support never left. The score was tied 2-2 with 10 minutes left in the third period and I scored the go ahead goal which ended up being the game winning goal. My teammates jumped on me and we all hit the ice, and the crowd was roaring so loud i couldn’t even hear myself think. It was the most exhilarating goal I ever scored in my life. We ended up winning 3-2 and it was such a bitter sweet moment celebrating with my teammates after all that we went through the last few years. Overall, this amazing experience is something that I will never forget in my lifetime.

Scariest Memory

When I was younger my Dad, Sister and I would always go bike riding on different trails and it was something I really enjoyed. We would go down all different types of trails, dirt trails, concrete, or ones on grass. There was a usual spot we would always go to and it was my favorite. It was a concrete road surrounded by trees on both sides. There was also a bridge that overlooked one of the roads in the area. So, it was a Saturday morning and we all decided that we wanted to go biking at our favorite trail. Just to get an image of the time period my sister was 8 and I was 6. We arrived at the bike trail and it was a very windy day, with a light sprinkle of rain. We were riding just like any other ordinary day of riding bikes, looking out at the beautiful trees covering both sides of the trial. My dad was leading the way, followed by my sister then me. As I was riding, I started to hear a cracking noise, then out of nowhere a huge oak tree was coming down right on the trail. I looked up at the tree coming down right at me and instantly froze. Then I moved just enough as the tree was coming down and it missed me by a few feet. I just stood there in shock looking at the tree that could’ve smashed me. My dad and sister didn’t even see the tree until it was almost to the ground, and they started yelling at me to move out of the way. In the end I was ok, and learned that you have to stay aware of your surroundings at all times because you never know when a life threatening situation will come your way.

Favorite TV Show

TV shows are unique to each and every person and it is based off of their personal taste of humor, and intrigue. I haven’t really thought about what my absolute favorite TV show is but if I had to choose based off of my how much I watch it and laugh, it would have to be The Office. The Office has made me laugh more than any other TV show out there. The group of characters was picked so wisely, and every character fit their role so well. I never found the show to get boring, and whenever I sit down and eat alone, The Office is always the first thing that comes to mind when I think about what to watch. My favorite episode was when Jim and Pam got married, then Michael meets Pam’s mom and starts to date her which did not make Pam very happy. It was a very emotional episode, but also made me laugh so hard. My favorite character in the show is probably a tie between Michael and Kevin. Michael always gets you to crack up, whether it is because of something dumb and questionable that he did, or when he calls multiple pointless meetings in the conference room. Then Kevin is an accountant who had no prior schooling or history in that field, but Michael hired him anyway. I guess you can say he turned out alright because he kept a job there for over 10 years. Kevin is just one of those characters that gets me to laugh every time he speaks. So, in the end The Office is my favorite TV show because it never gets old to me, and it is absolutely hilarious.

Am I a Writer?

I believe it can be very difficult to grade or analyze yourself on personal skills. If someone asked me if i considered myself to be a writer, I would most likely say no. I do not exactly enjoy writing, or think I am good at it. It is mainly just something I do when I have a assignment due for class. I hope these weekly blogs will be something that I enjoy and look at as a fun opportunity to work on my writing skills, and not just another mandatory writing assignment. Some of my strengths as a writer would be coming up with good ideas for my pieces of writing, and connecting with the audience. Some of my weaknesses are not having detailed enough writing. I think that my writing is sometimes very boring, and needs to have more descriptive pieces to intrigue the audience. This semester I would like to take a huge step in my writing abilities, and to go outside of my comfort zone writing wise. I truly believe these weekly blogs will help me take that leap. I really want to work on making my writing more descriptive, without adding unnecessary details. I also don’t like writing outside my comfort zone, so writing about new topics and new ideas will be good for me. So, overall I am very excited to see where this semester of writing will take me, and I am really looking forward to these weekly blogs.
